The RecessKit, scaled up
During the pandemic, Recess Cleveland launched RecessKits — 5-gallon buckets with 70 play items and a rule book of 20 group games, inspired by meal kits. We gifted over 17,000 play items and learned something important: our programming travels. RecessPods apply that recipe at community scale, swapping the bucket for a shipping container or enclosed trailer.
What’s inside
Every pod carries the essential equipment behind our 90+ games — the kickballs, dodgeballs, zorbs, field-day gear, art supplies, and sound equipment that power a Restore Recess event — plus access to an online curriculum covering the games, the creative placemaking, and the data collection that make the programming work. It’s the ingredients and the recipes.
Two formats
For Schools: an enclosed trailer on a monthly subscription, with equipment refreshed and curriculum updated every month. For Communities: a shipping container plus 40 staff-led events over 8 weeks, run by trained Recess Coordinators.
Designed to be seen
Pods are canvases. Sponsor wraps turn a 40-foot container into the most visible brand placement in the neighborhood — see sponsorship — and the pod’s arrival is an event in itself: the launch alone can draw hundreds.
